The Lotus Evora GTE will be unwrapped on March 6 in Geneva and we will update you if more information about this Lotus creation will be revealed prior to the launch.

Here are the safest minivans that you can get today according to the safety ratings of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety: Toyota Sienna, Honda Oddysey, Volkswagen Routan, Grand Caravan by Dodge, Town & Country by Chrysler.

The top minivans were picked based on the new evaluation standards on rollover protection by the IIHS. The vehicle must have the best rating possible for crash protection on the front, rear, side, and during rollover incidents. They must also have an ESC or electronic stability control.

Almost making it to the list are the Nissan Quest and the Kia Sedona but they fell short on the category of rollover protection. The Quest was tagged as acceptable and the Sedona getting the lowest grading.

The protection during rollover crashes will depend on the strength of the roof of the vehicle. The agency measures this by subjecting the roof of the vehicle to a metal plate pushing against the minivan’s roof on a certain speed. A “good” rating means the roof of the vehicle can take about four times the weight of the vehicle before it caves in by around five inches ore technically have a strength to weigh ratio of 4 at the minimum.

The 2012 Town & Country got a good roll over rating with a ratio of strength and weight at 4.51. This was also used as basis for the Routan and the Grand Caravan. These three minivans underwent structural improvements for their 2012 models so the safety rating only applies to the 2012 models. The Quest had a 3.36 ratio while the Sedona was way below at 2.31.

The new government standards were set back in 2010 with a minimum require of 1.5 but the IIHS sets a higher standard for safety as studies show that the roof strength matters most during rollover crashes. Stronger roofs will crash less and as a result resulting to less serious injuries of passengers.

Back in 2009, about 8,000 people were injured in the United States due to rollover accidents.

Yes, that’s right. This means that the modifications will be technical as well as visual. If you miss the bumpier BMW cars of yesteryears, you’re going to love this makeover.

The more notable modifications, though, were done under the hood. Hamann raised the 530 diesel engine’s output from 245 HP and 540Nm of torque to 275 HP and 640Nm of torque. This was possible through a reprogramming of the engine’s Motronic power management system.

On the cosmetic side, the exterior of the vehicle received a new bumper, newly redesigned side skirts, and a spunkier rear apron. This incorporated four distinct Hamann mufflers. These were crafted from stainless steel with a featured 90mm diameter. The 535i, 530d, and 550i models of the line, including their air suspension variants, received a suspension lowering kit which improved the handling and sharpened the appearance of the cars.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The German tuning company also offers a special set of ANNIVERSARY EVO 22” rims covered in high-performance tires, a real treat according to CarTuningTips. This means a 265/30 for the front axle and a raised 295/25 for the rear. The interior of this package boasts of aluminum pedals and luxurious footrests, as well Hamann’s branded black mats for the floor. If this doesn’t combine style with power, nothing does. Now, do you like the car, or would you prefer the regular five series…

Currently, the Nissan 370Z is priced below $30,000. It’s still not clear whether or not Senner’s tuned up version is in line with the limited edition Nissan 40th Anniversary Package which should come out this spring.
Nissan offers two regular 370Z variants: the Nissan 370Z and the Nissan Z Touring. A limited edition NISMO 370Z edition was also put on sale, for a higher price, of course.

According to the Japanese car maker, the recall does not involve other vehicles from Lexus, Toyota, or Scion.

The Vehicle Stability Control or VSC reacts when the SUV loses traction while handling a turn. Slippage of the front or rear wheel is a common occurrence in SUVs which have high centers of gravity.

The Consumer Reports earlier raised the issue about the stability of the vehicle when handling a corner fast. The test drivers of the magazine noted that the VSC of the luxury SUV from Lexus reacts quite low compared to other vehicles. The website then discouraged consumers to acquire the said SUV.

Toyota reacts with a recall so they can address properly the safety concerns and ensure that they meet their quality standards. They were able to confirm the problem with the stability control of the GX 460.

The whole world should not fail to take note that electric vehicles are everywhere. Look at the streetcar system of the city and the Vancouver games might be the greenest Olympic Games so far. The streetcars they are using are running on electricity and has zero emissions.

Bombardier, a company also known for watercrafts and snow machines, donated low floor linked trolleys all the way from their plant in Brussels. Around 500 streetcars are being used and we can say that the system is highly commendable.

The Olympic Line of electric streetcars will be running through March 21. It runs along a 1.8 kilometer route running between 6:30 in the morning until 12:30 am, passing approximate after every 6 or 10 minutes. Another great thing about it is that the ride is for free.

According to The Alternative Fuels Blog, the FLEXITY streetcars sport some good design lines and very roomy inside. The ride is also low enough making it easy for anyone to step on and off the platform.

The Olympic Line also provides a shift back in time for commuters and give them an experience just like how things were back between the 1890s through 1955.

The Winter Games run of the streetcars also serves as a trial run to accustom locals to a sustainable and clean form of public transportation.

The recent Frankfurt Auto Show witnessed concepts that may look a bit radical but representative of what may be the future of the auto industry. Peugeot did their share of showcasing a head turner during the event as they unveiled the bb1 concept car inspired by the motorcycle. The CEO of the French company describes the compact vehicle as a ride between four and two-wheel vehicles. Peugeot will be consolidating their data in the next six months before deciding if they will have a commercial gain to put the bb1 into production. The bb1 follows the tubular chassis architecture by Peugeot Motorcycles, a subsidiary of Peugeot-Citroen. If the bb1 gets the green light from the top management, it will be assembled by their motorcycles arm. [...]

The Peugeot bb1 is powered by electric motors proximate to the rear wheels. The engine runs on lithium ion batteries stored beneath the rear seats. The motor was produced by Michelin, the French company famous for their tires.

According to Peugeot-Cars.net, the car can travel for 75 miles in a single charging with a max speed of 56 mph. It is also a very light vehicle at 1,323 pounds. Despite the small built and appearance, the bb1 can carry a full capacity of four individuals just like your everyday car.

Peugeot is proud to say that everything about the bb1 concept car is radical and game changing in the auto industry.
